I am a comprehensively trained Pilates Instructor certified in the traditional Pilates Method. I began my career in movement at a young age as an all-around competitive gymnast and was active as a gymnast for twelve years, and later on I became a coach.
I began my Pilates training with Power Pilates and later went on to complete my Full Certfiication with Pilates Studio of Los Angeles. I train regularly with Darien Gold, a second generation Pilates Teacher who honors the true work of Joseph Pilates and has the physical capacity to back it up.
The Pilates Method Works
In my experience I have learned that the Pilates method works. It is not simply an exercise modality; it is a way of life and a true complement to everything else I do. And I have seen it work for countless numbers of individuals who were willing to turn their attention to their bodies before it was too late.
The Pilates method has a way of highlighting deficiencies and reinvigorating areas which have had little attention as a result of lack of or improper use.
A Little Goes a Long Way
The movements are such that anyone can begin working with them right away; just a little investment here will go a long way!
In the words of Mr. Joseph Pilates: “The mistreated body, mindful of its past neglect, eventually exacts its repayment in full with interest in the form of leaving [one] his fortunes to contemplate, but denying [him] the benefits and enjoyment that accrue to [those] of wealth, blessed with normal health.”
The Essence of the Work
These words speak to the essence of the work. How far our culture has drifted from ‘normal health.’ Movement alone is not the key to ‘normal health,’ but surely enjoyment is meant to accrue as we live, learn and deepen the well we have to draw from in our experience of life. How much more fully can we experience the ‘enjoyment’ therein if our bodies are responding to our will for as long as our souls require.
